The Baledon Stud

News 2010

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and a successful 2010

Is it really ten years since we were celebrating the Millennium?

It is 50 years since I started the stud a lifetimes work!

I hope I have moved with the times just sad some of the ponies that have helped make the stud are not still here to celebrate with me

But time and tide waits for no man

The memories will always be there

2009 was a good year with the show ponies with Terry Wall and John Osborne  as can been seen from below they had a good show season and thanks to the many owners of Baledon  ponies and those related to Baledon who  also kept the flag flying well and a big thank you to All who have kept me informed of how well you are doing at the shows it is always rewarding to see how many different things can be done with them especially the scurry team they are truly Fantastic so exciting to watch

I kept two of Valiant's progeny the colt Sea Admiral is down with Terry getting ready to be shown and I have a very pretty filly Exceptional here she will wait her turn in time to be shown they are both what I hoped I would have from Valiant I could have kept more but space limits numbers

Wishing all who bought foals a successful show season with them

I am looking forward to this years crop of foals by Shore Brooks How Ever who is now happily running with his mares in Australia lucky fellow he is having a busy season having had mares here in May and more again in Jan!!

His son Shore Brooks Hot Gossip will be at the Dutch Stallion show this week-end 13th Feb and will be coming to the U.K by the end of the month I am looking forward to having him to cover the mares Goldie Modryd Aur is home and will be going to Gossip as will all the other mares

I went mad and bought a filly from Castellau she is a very big bay with white socks and goes back to Baledon Virginia she is a very pretty filly with so much bone and has settled in well

Mario will be looking for a new home to be Leased to in 2011 he is a wonderful stamp of a stallion just a pity he is so closely related to the mares anyone interested please get in touch he is a big stallion for being by Revel Humming Top and a fantastic mover hence so many of his stock now go on under saddle and  all his stock have his fantastic temperaments

I am enjoying being on the Welsh Pony and Cob Advisory Committee giving a little back with I hope some useful input I would never have the time to be a council member if anyone has anything you want bringing up at our meetings please let me know as we deal with all sorts of things and it all goes before council some ideas which I hope you will all eventually find useful

I  was also on the judges' assessment panel for the Sec B's which I really enjoyed I hope those who did not get on will try again with a little more experience you should achieve you goal

I am looking forward to doing some judging this year again but I am definitely avoiding the Dartford Tunnel area!!!

Wishing  Everyone a Successful Season Foaling and Showing

News 2009

Wishing everyone a happy and successful New Year

It is hard to believe that it is well over 60 years since I had my first Coed Coch pony a sec B gelding and it is 50 year next year since I became a life member of the society I don't know if it is cause for celebration or morn the passing of time it has all gone by in what seems a blink of an eye each year seems to bring something new but it seems to be wishing ones life away looking forward to each years crop of foals to see if your breeding plan and your ideas come to fluition or have you got it totally wrong!!! I have been so fortunate to have had and bred some really beautiful ponies which have been a delight.

I am looking forward to this years crop of foals  by Maestir Valiant and hope there will be a Revel Venetia or any of the "V" line  in amongst them the reason for having Valiant most of the mares are looking in foal I think Hullabaloo is the only one that looks to have not held

Maestir Valiant

I hope the showing season is  successful thanks to Terry Wall and John Osborne who show the Baledon ponies so well and given me so much pleasure seeing them in the ring Miss Glamour Puss will come out again for 3 year old classes before I might have her produced under saddle Modrub Aur (Goldie) will do some 2 year old classes, Extravaganza will do  yearling classes and Hosanna might do a couple of barren mare classes it depends on Terry and how much time he has spare

Look forward to seeing some of the other ponies that have been sold coming out again

The Lawyer will be coming out in 3 year old colt classes Brother Cadfael  who did well at the foal shows will be doing yearling colt classes as will The Welsh Druid and I look forward to seeing the very pretty filly Hafina doing yearling filly classes

Good Luck to you All

I kept 3 very promising fillies from last year as mentioned above Extravaganza and Sea Spray were both by Dyfed Prophet my beloved Sea Spray who fought to get over tetanus when she was just 5 weeks old has mature into a stunning perfect filly going to be well up to height and Llanheulwyn a bay filly by Llwynan Llewellyn ( she is full sister to The Lawyer) thanks to Ceri Fell who has kept her for extra long as I have been poorly with very bad anaemia which I am getting over she is coming home this Wed 14th Jan I am so looking forward to seeing her

I am looking forward to judging I have taken on a few more long distance shows this time so will see a bit more of the country lets hope the weather is better for the shows this time it all finishes at the Royal Welsh Winter Fayre were I am judging the Sec B's

I have a lovely stallion who is coming to cover the mares this season and be shown but more of that later

Mario Lanza is this year going to  Mr And Mrs Davies of the Ambercamlais Stud and will be going back to Carren Curtis of the Polsmek Stud in 2010 as his foals she had when he was with her about 7 years ago have made such lovely ponies she wants him back some have gone under saddle and have qualified for R.I.H.S his stock do make really lovely ridden ponies given the opportunity

Wishing everyone a very successful 2009 showing foaling and in all you do lets hope this forecast doom and gloom does not hit us as badly as expected and we all enjoy our ponies
